About the Desk

Perthshire Energy Desk is a publication of Perthshire Financial LLC, an independent research boutique based in Fulshear, Texas. We built the Desk because we were tired of the state of energy journalism.

The energy sector is the physical bedrock of the global economy. Yet, the coverage of it has bifurcated into two useless extremes: apocalyptic climate moralizing on one side, and reactionary fossil-fuel triumphalism on the other. Neither helps you understand how capital is actually moving, or where the grid is actually going to fail.

Our Independence

We are a veteran-owned business. We take no outside venture capital. We sell no advertising. Our only revenue comes directly from our subscribers — professionals who need unvarnished, accurate syntheses of complex geopolitical and infrastructural events.

Our Data Sources

We source our foundational metrics from recognized clearinghouses including the EIA (U.S. Energy Information Administration), IEA (International Energy Agency), ERCOT, CAISO, PJM (Regional Transmission Organizations), and Argus Media.
